FAQs

Payments

We accept select debit cards, select credit cards and PayPal – with the allowed options indicated on the booking form.

Any tip is greatly appreciated (and can be done using cash) although it is not required.

We reserve the right to charge extra for journeys made during the Christmas period.

Rather than a meter, we operate a fixed postcode to postcode pricing structure. This is based on a booking fee and a distance based unit rate taken from our database.

If your driver is required to park the vehicle in a pay and display car park, they will pay the full parking charges, which we then add as an additional charge to the price of your booking, which you would need to pay retroactively.

All drivers are self-employed and if parking is incurred, we will add this charge to the final booking cost.  Parking is a VAT applicable service.

Our minimum fare (or starting fare) will be an off-peak fare and is available on the booking form. The minimum charge varies by the type of vehicle used.

Bookings

You can make bookings using the form on our website.

If there is an error you should contact us immediately via email so that your booking can be edited. Charges may apply.

Where available and activated, promo codes can be applied on the form at the time of the booking.

Refunds are provided in certain cases, subject to an admin fee and the time a request is made:

  • If your refund is requested 48 plus hours in advance of your pickup time you will receive a 90% refund
  • If your refund is requested within (or equal to) 48 hours of your pickup time you will receive a 50% refund
  • If your refund is requested within (or equal to) 24 hours of your pickup time you will not receive a refund

It is recommended you supply a mobile number when booking so there is another form of communication (should you not be reachable by email).

If your supplied phone number does not provide service in the UK, please provide a number compatible with WhatsApp.

If you need a duplicate copy of your receipt please email us. Please include the name you booked with, the date it was booked, and the destination.

During booking please select the options you require using the form and we will endeavour to provide you with a vehicle meeting your requirements. If vehicles are not available you will be offered an alternative option.

You are able to make multiple pick-up and drop-off address bookings via our booking form.

We recommend a full destination address is provided at the time of the booking. This will allow us to provide an accurate journey quotation.

Otherwise ‘As Directed’ rates will be chargeable.

If you are unsure of your address and would like help please contact us.

Journey

Nearer the time of your pickup you are communicated the driver’s details, including their contact number and the make and model of the vehicle.

If your driver is more than 10 minutes late to collect, and has not informed you of the delay prior to lateness, you should contact journey@scotlandcabs.com. We will get in touch with the driver and update you immediately.

If you think you have lost an item in one of our vehicles, we will use reasonable efforts locate the item and, if found, securely store the property for 1 week.

You can contact us by sending an email to lost property@scotlandcabs.com and one of our team will be happy to help. If we are unable to return your property after 1 month, we will securely dispose of the item.

You are able to add a waiting time period at the booking stage, up to 20 minutes.

This is dependent on the size of the vehicle and how many passengers are travelling. More information is provided on the Vehicles page.

Your driver will be charged a parking fee when exiting the airport and as this charge cannot be predetermined, we apply this charge after the booking has been completed.

Please note ‘Meet and Greet’ jobs have different charges.

During public events there are many occasions when road closures and restrictions will be put in place outside of our control. Due to this, we may advise of a specific pick-up location and recommend that you communicate with your driver directly for ease of pick-up.

Please ensure you have provided your mobile number for ease of communication.

All of our journeys are estimates only so please allow extra time should you need it.

You can leave feeback by emailing us at journey@scotlandcabs.com

You should have received full details of the vehicle and contact number for our driver nearer the pickup time. Simply give them a call direct or email us and we will find them for you.

Our drivers usually follow Google Maps.

All passengers are able to suggest a preferred route to the driver and they will do their best to fulfil this request.

As our drivers are self-employed we do not offer training.

All drivers carry a basic first-aid kit in their vehicles.

Drivers

Above all, we look for drivers who are reliable and interested in the profession. Experience with private hire driver jobs is preferred, and a good working knowledge of Scotland is required.

You will need to have and supply certain items/documents, which are:

  • Valid ‘drivers license’
  • Passport photo
  • Regular ‘selfie’ photo
  • ‘Utility bill’ showing current address
  • Valid ‘Private Hire Driver License’
  • Valid ‘Private Hire Car License’
  • Valid ‘Vehicle Certificate of Compliance’
  • Valid ‘Private Hire Insurance’

Yes. All drivers are self-employed and responsible for their own tax and national insurance.

Our jobs are completely flexible, and you can choose your own hours.

As a self-employed driver it is your responsibility to legally use your vehicle (in a private hire capacity) and to pay for the fuel and other costs.

You will need to fill out the “drive with us” form on the ‘For Drivers’ page
